- What is Kizaki?
- Kizaki is a collaborative, local-first workspace for building and running microapps — small, fully custom full-stack applications. It has two surfaces on one backbone: Kizaki Platform, for the internal tools, workflows, and portals an organization runs on, and Kizaki Notebook, for one-off computation inside collaborative documents.
- What's the difference between Platform and Notebook?
- Platform is for persistent software: long-lived internal tools and workflows on a visual canvas where data flow between microapps is explicit. Notebook is for one-off work: analysis, prototypes, and reports as blocks inside your documents, connected to the same live data. They share the same substrate — microapps, sandboxes, and a typed dependency graph.
- What platforms does Kizaki run on?
- Kizaki is in active development as a desktop application first, built local-first so your work is available offline and syncs in realtime when you're connected.
- Where does my data live?
- Kizaki is local-first: your data is stored on your own devices and replicated through sync. Every change is attributable and revertible, and each device holds exactly the data it is subscribed and authorized to see.
- Is any of this open source?
- Yes — Seaglass, the data engine underneath every Kizaki workspace, is being developed as an open-source project. It combines mergeable collaborative state with typed, server-checked operations for state that carries invariants.
